I first started sculpting in clay, that is earthen clay, when an extended family member died suddenly and tragically. I made a memorial portrait sculpture to help me bring him back to life in a way, to provide something tangible to remember him by and to invest effort and time in honoring someone important.
Memorial sculpture in marble, granite, terracotta, and natural stone. Unique monument shapes and designs based upon your ideas of how best to commemorate your loved one. We can design and create any type of sculpture or engraving to meet your needs. We will work with you directly to create a marker that honors your loved one with respect and dignity.
We do not offer off the shelf markers produced in China and machine engraved in a huge factory. There are many local providers who offer that service. We want to hear your stories and put down in stone a living memorial, something worthy of remembrance.
We can coordinate with your current monument maker if you've already chosen one to produce the unique sculptural elements right here in the local Portland Studio. Almost 100% of the memorial statuary purchased in the Pacific Northwest is purchased from China or Italy--a sad reality since there are many fine artists living and working in our community.
Call for an appointment or contact me via the contact link above and we'll design a one of a kind marker carved and sculpted to your wishes. All stone fabrication done right here in the Portland, Oregon studio. We welcome your collaboration and participation in the engraving and sculpting work. Convenient payment options and artistic markers for every budget.
I started repairing headstones and monuments a few years ago. I was walking by the cemetery near my studio and noticed periodic vandalism and of course the constant wear and tear of time. The markers get knocked over either by people or some natural occurrence and then they are just left to rot. The landscaping staff slides them aside so they can mow the lawn and eventually they get grown over. Some of the gravestones at these Portland Cemetery's are pioneer markers. Some of the people buried at these sites were alive when George Washington was still alive and Napolean was rampaging through Europe. I want to repair and restore these works of commemorative art for all eternity. I would hope when I pass somebody pays me the same respect.
